Chronic conditions that don’t seem to respond to available treatments or unexplained conditions may respond well with Chinese medicine as we look at conditions from a new perspective.
Chinese medicine (which includes acupuncture and herbal medicine) can also provide support during long-term illness or as palliative care (pain relief, reduce medication side effects etc). It can be used safely in conjunction with western medications and treatments. |

What is your approach and philosophy to healing and your work?
Traditional Chinese medicine looks at the patient as a whole- all aspects of your health and lifestyle. Emotional factors, diet, lifestyle and environment can all influence our physical health. These factors can cause an imbalance in our bodies.
We believe the body (mental/physical and spiritual) is made up of energy and matter- Yin and Yang, QI and blood, all needing to be in balance with each other, nothing is separate - what happens in one part of the body can effect every other part, all the body’s organs and systems are connected through their functions and relationships and what affects one system can effect the whole system.
Chinese medicine helps the body correct itself, most of the time we have the ability to heal ourselves, but overtime and with more factors unbalancing the body this can become more and more difficult. Chinese medicine can help give the body the resources it needs to heal.

What does a regular treatment involve?
The first consultation will involve taking a very detailed medical history, all aspects of physical and mental/emotional wellbeing will be investigated to get a clear picture of your health. Chinese diagnosis techniques (pulse, tongue and physical inspection) will add to the diagnosis. The results will show what imbalances need addressing. Then regular treatments will aim to correct these imbalances. Questions will be asked each time to establish any changes and treatment based accordingly.
How long will it take before I see a result?
How long it takes to see results varies from patient to patient, but as a general rule the longer the complaint has been present the longer it may take to resolve. Therefore an acute condition will see improvement much sooner than a deep-seated chronic condition. Whether we consider the condition an internal imbalance or an external attack will also influence how long it takes see results.
Some conditions respond quicker than others: pain conditions are often relieved almost straight away, but the relief may only last a short time and another treatment will be needed. As the treatments continue the amount of time that relief is achieved in between will often increase.
Most complaints will start to see improvement within 4 treatments and this amount of time is generally needed to gauge how the body is responding as signs and symptoms may change with treatment and this will indicate how the body is responding to treatment, therefore it is difficult to establish an exact time frame at the first consultation.
