Hypnotherapy is a therapy that is widely used to help create more positive outcomes in a person’s life.
The first thing to understand is that hypnotherapy is not a 'magic bullet' and that being hypnotised is not a therapy in itself. When hypnotised you will not be under the therapist's control, be forced reveal your darkest secrets or behave in strange, illegal or unethical ways. Hypnosis is a state of deep, natural relaxation and concentration. With the guidance of a therapist it will help you use the power of your mind and your creative imagination to find new ways of dealing with problems, alter unwanted patterns of behaviour and resolve deeply rooted issues. During hypnosis the therapist introduces selected therapies that deal specifically with the presenting problem or issue. It is these that form the basis of what hypnotherapy is all about. Hypnotherapy provides a rapid, personalised and permanent solution to many health and behavioural issues. |

What can I expect in a normal session?
The initial consultation first involves finding out as much as possible about you including your health and lifestyle history. This information gathering will usually involve a discussion of your problem and counselling will usually form an integral part of the discussion. This is an important phase as it allows the therapist to determine just what sort of therapies are going to be appropriate.
Following directly on from the counselling is the actual hypnotherapy which is the second phase.
Whilst hypnotised, the therapist will guide you through a range of suggestions each of which designed to deal with aspects of the problem. These suggestions are directed at the sub-conscious mind which is where your beliefs are held. It is by changing how the sub-conscious mind believes things to be that the conscious mind can work out how it should react.
At the completion of the session the therapist will discuss the experience with you and reinforce the learnings incorporated in the hypnotherapy. A further appointment time will also be discussed.
